Thai Style Pyro
Rating: 0.0/5 (0 vote cast)
In 2004 I worked on a film in Thailand, the local pyro guys were very good at making effects from everyday items, they had methods I had never seen before and taught me many great tricks of their trade.
They sourced a gum rosin which made a excellent dry fireball, but due to a language barrier and secret mens business the real idenity and other uses of this gum rosin was never found.
I have great respect for the way those
Thai pyrotechnicians could do their trade on a shoe string budget, every pyro device hand made just before the shot.
In return we taught them some of our safe methods, doing large explosive effects close to stunt personel and extras, also a quiet cannon effect was something we demonstrated.
Nearly every material we used was derived from the humble coconut, so we called it applied coconut technology, ACT.
